Please read this Policy and the Terms of Use carefully to understand BPL’s views and practices regarding your personal data and how BPL will treat it.

By using the Site or signing up to the Emma’s Diary programme through other channels, you accept the Terms of Use and this Policy and you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree or have concerns with any part of this Policy, you should discontinue use of the Site and the Emma’s Diary Programme.

Why BPL collects information from you

BPL uses the information it collects from you to notify and inform you of important changes, special offers and revisions to the services on the Site. BPL also provides a range of services and special offers that you may find of interest and that are made available to you on registration.

Registration on the Site and the Emma’s Diary Programmes is free. The following free services are available to you if you consent to receive them:

  • Free weekly pregnancy and monthly baby emails. BPL aims to send you a personalised weekly email containing information and news specifically focused on your stage of pregnancy. This will be sent to you automatically on registration for this service and will not cost you anything to receive.
  • Free Emma's Diary-related SMS text messages, where applicable.
  • Regularly updated special offers BPL thinks you will find of interest on the Site.

    • To present the Site and its contents to you.
    • To provide you with information, products or services that you request from us.
    • To fulfil any other purpose for which you provide it.
    • To allow you to participate in interactive features on our Website.
    • If you post comments on the Site, to publish them for editorial purposes or in promotional material.

Any information provided via the website may also be used to provide collective statistics about customers on the Site, traffic patterns, sales and related Site information, but these statistics will not contain any specific information from which you could be identified.

How BPL Limited stores your data

Any personal data you give to BPL is held in accordance with all the relevant provisions of Indian Data Protection Acts. BPL stores this data on secure servers. Once captured the data is held and processed in India. On the off chance if data ever would need to be processed offshore, then all data is processed in accordance with International Data Transfer Agreements.

On registration to the Site you are required to choose a member ID and password. You are responsible for keeping these confidential. You should not share them with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although BPL will do its best to protect your personal data, BPL cannot guarantee the security of your data when it is transmitted to the Site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once BPL has received your information, BPL will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Your Data

If you no longer wish BPL to hold your details on its database then you may ask BPL to remove your details by contacting BPL via the contact us.

From time to time, BPL and its clients may contact you in the name of Emma's Diary®. If you would prefer BPL not to pass your details onto carefully screened third party organisations then you may opt-out at anytime by contacting BPL via the contact us.

Disclosure of your information

BPL may disclose your personal information to any member of its group, which means its subsidiaries, BPL’s ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries.

Accessing and correcting your information

If you have registered on the Emma’s Diary website, you can review and change your personal information by logging into the Site and visiting your account profile page. BPL cannot delete your personal information except by also deleting your user account. BPL is not obliged to accommodate a request to change information if it believes the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

If you delete information shared in the public areas of the Site it may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other users of the Site.

Combining data

The information you give us may be combined with other information about you that is obtained from other sources. The combination is usually undertaken with a view to enhancing an existing database with more information. For example:
